More Cooper-isms

I was reminded of a few more funnies that I have to share.

Recently his asked his Papa (Cory's dad) if Grandma was at home???  When Papa replied no, he informed him he was too old to be home by himself.

There have been several occasions when people are getting ready to leave our house (grandparents/friends/aunts & uncles) he will fall apart and launch into "When they leave are you going to tell me how naughty I have been?  Please don't go _______, Please??!?!  They always tell me how naughty I have been..."  Like we are some sort of evil parents, or something.  Awesome.

He loves to listen to his music in his room.  Loud.  I went in to turn it down and he informed me, "Mommy, this is my rock and roll, it is meant to be played loud. Hello?"  He was listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks. That is rock and roll to this boy.

This Winter he was pointing out the "differences" between boys and girls.  Ahem.  If you understand what I am saying.  He told me mine fell off and that is what makes me a girl.

He has told both Cory and I on separate occasions that when he grows up he is going to go to college to play baseball, like his daddy, so that he can get all the chicks and pick out the best one.  (Who does he sound like??? Who do you suppose planted such a thought?)

And how about something sweet.  He told me a couple nights ago that Jesus and God are living in his heart.  And he closed his eyes really tight and said, "Thank you Jesus, for always being with me.  I love you."  I was so proud and it melted me into a puddle.  I left the room with tears in my eyes.  He is such a beautiful boy.

Happy Coffee, Dear Friends

We have some very dear, wonderful friends in our lives.  I mean really great friends.  We are blessed.

One of the perks (pardon the pun!) of having really great friends is the generosity.  I really L.O.V.E. coffee.  Any way it comes, any time of day, any amount I can get.  So, when some dear friends of ours brought me this, I was so over-the-moon happy about it, I had to share.

I wish the Internet could give you a whiff of the deliciousness...  Mmmmmmm....

Do you have a really great friend with connections to the Dominican Republic that can get you really fabulous coffee like this??!?!?!  No??!?!?
I highly recommend making such a friend.

A Haircut

Why does the first big haircut take away the baby face???

One month ago... at his party.  NEVER got a smile on camera.  He is such a serious child.

Yesterday, climbing.  Again, no smiles.

And just for the cute factor...

After a nap.  :)

But, doesn't he look bigger with the haircut?  Sniffle.

Cooper-isms

Oh, our dear Cooper.
He is full of one-liners.
I can give you some examples...

When he was only 18 months, he told Cory, "Daddy, have patience, I'm not done."  My mouth fell to the floor. 18 months!

When he was 2, he told some friends, "I feel, disappointment..." after being asked to use his words to convey how he was feeling instead of having a meltdown.

I will ask him "Comprende`???", and he ALWAYS responds, "Don't call me Cooper-neigh."  ( I don't know how to spell that in Spanish, by the way.  WHY did I take French?  I never use it.)

He recently told Cory and I after seeing us embrace and give each other a quick kiss, "Stop it guys, you make me feel like I should be married!"

He told me once he was disappointed that I was born with ears, because I can hear all the naughty things he does.

He once asked why daddy needed a "new girl" after we spoke about getting a new grill.  I said, "not a new girl, daddy has me!"  He said, "Well, maybe he wants a mermaid..."

He constantly has a joke.  Mostly not funny, but the way he tells them, oh, so funny.

He has the most infectious laugh.  You can be totally cranky, and to hear him get a big belly laugh going, snaps you right out of it.

I have been told so many times that I should be writing down all of his "isms".  And, I totally agree.  One day, I need to do that.  He is such a character.  I can't even think of a quarter of the funny things he has said in the last four and a half years.

I have to remember those funny, silly moments.  There are days that I lose my patience with him.  "I hate" and "I can't" are the biggest 4-letter-words in our house right now with him.  He has so little patience with himself and with others sometimes.

And then, I think back...  To a tiny 5 pound baby who, only days old, had a tube stuffed down his throat for several days right before and after having open heart surgery.  And he would cry.  Oh, he would cry.  But, you couldn't hear a sound.  That tube prevented any sound from coming up.  I was so thankful to hear the cry after so many days.  Seeing the tears rolling down his face with no sound to accompany them, heartbreaking.

This boy.  This silly, wonderful, trying boy makes my life so full.  So complete.  So remarkable.  I hope one day he feels the same way about me.  I adore him.

I don't understand...

I can remember Cooper yelling at me when he was about the age that Carter is now.  At the time I wondered what he could possibly be saying/thinking/vocalizing.  Now, that super Coop is the ripe old age of 4.5, I am perfectly happy not knowing what Carter is thinking as he is screaming at me.  I hear every thought that comes to Cooper's dear mind.  Some of which, I really don't care for or need to know.  (Like the noises he is able to produce from... wherever.)  (Or, the fact that I am the meanest mommy.)  (OR, that he HATES, blah, blah, blah.)

Nope, right now I am loving the fact that Carter only has a handful of coherent words.  Cooper more than makes up for his brother's lack of.

Beginnings

I am starting this blog journey, fashionably late.  My dearest friends have blogs and I stalk them daily.  I see the pictures and the posts and think "I should do one of those..." and so, after the urging of one of these said friends, I am.  Finally.

As with all beginnings it is a little overwhelming and I am not an expert, so I thank you in advance for excusing any mistakes found. (Double credit if you let me know some of your secrets in perfecting your own blogs!)

I want to start with two pictures.  My life revolves around my children.  Most moms would say the same.  They are the joys of my life.  We have beautiful, wonderful, hysterical moments.  We also have really difficult ones. Even being married for 5 years before we had our first child to a wonderful M.A.N. didn't prepare me for the crazy that having boys brings to your life.  I adore it!  But, I am learning.  A friend loaned a book to me recently called Wild at Heart, by John Eldredge.  It was a wonderful insight to what is really in a man's soul, and helped me to reevaluate how I saw some of the silly and wild and overwhelming parts of my 4-year-old's personality.  I recommend reading it, if you haven't.

These are my babies. I will always see them as tiny 5 pound, 15 ounce cherubs.  (They had identical birth weights.)  On the difficult days, I pull out these pictures and breathe in the memories of their new lives.  Oh, I am so blessed.
